Make a Donation

Here at Hull Help for Refugees we welcome donations of funds and items. Further information about what and how to donate can be found below. Your donation to Hull Help for Refugees will always be used to improve the lives of refugees and can be used in several ways, depending on what is most needed.

Donate Items

While specific needs can change with the seasons and stock levels of groups we send aid to, the basic needs remain the same. Whether living on a refugee camp or under a motorway bridge, people are living in tents in all weathers, with limited access to the daily resources we take for granted. The items listed not only help to keep people alive but help to retain a sense of dignity as well as keeping in touch with family members far away. The list is general but we will aim to promote specific appeals both here and through social media.

Examples of equipment you can donate are listed below:

  • Camping equipment such as sleeping bags, tents and roll mats
  • Old spectacles, mobile phones, torches
  • Hairdressing clippers, sewing kits
  • Nappies, wipes, sanitary pads, toiletries

We only send clean, seasonal, practical clothing in good condition, underwear must be new.

  • Trousers, Shorts & Leggings
  • T-Shirts & Tops
  • Jumpers & Hoodies
  • Base Layers
  • Socks
  • Hats, Scarves & Gloves
  • Shoes & Coats

While specific items are needed abroad, at Hull Help for Refugees, we’re happy to take in other donations.

Refugees arriving in Hull are often in need of clothing, bedding, towels and other household items. We are able to distribute these via Open Doors and other local organisations.

In order to raise funds to send aid abroad, we sell donated items at fairs, markets and events around the city. For this purpose, we’ll take almost any good quality, saleable item but are finding, sadly that books are increasingly difficult to move on.

We also believe that when individuals work together, no matter how small the gesture, we can make a difference.
